Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! We had a lot of fun sharing our unique and individually crafted Valentine's boxes. I think the best part (besides eating the candy) was delivering all our valentines to our friends. It was fun to see the joy and excitement on their faces. Special thanks to our room moms for providing a sweet treat and drinks! And a thank you to everyone for my special treats and notes!

Visitors From Space

Visitors From Space was our reading selection this week. We were a little disappointed that it wasn't about Aliens, but the non-fiction peaked our interest. The selection is about comets. It contains everything you ever wanted to know and more. After reading, we worked in partnerships or by ourselves to create an informative poem on the subject. The results were quite extraordinary.

Generous Parents!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the classroom supplies. We have been writing so much that all our pens are out of ink! How great is that? Even greater --the excitement of the kids when they realized they had new pens and clipboards to do even more writing.

Writing Lives

Each student will be taking a closer look at who they are as a writer. This map of their writing selves can be added to and altered at any time. It includes reasons why they write, who inspires them to write and what things they like to write about.

A body is like a house?

Don't believe it? Come by the third grade hallway and check out what we found out!

Mouse House?

The Super Stars had a great time trying to meet the demands of their client: a mouse. This mouse had very specific ideas of what he wanted in a house. Our team of architects then used function, purpose, style and expression to create the ultimate Mouse House!

Bulletin Boards

Come and see what the Super Stars are up too! We have updated the third grade bulletin board with some projects from our architecture planner. Next to the room you will find our decimal project. How much is your name worth? We also explored in depth the process of how an architect begins to create a structure. Our client was a mouse who wanted a cheese storage room. Look closely to see how each student created a bubble drawing, a floor plan and an elevation drawing.
