PYP Bulletin Boards
After all that fun STAAR testing, it was time for student led conferences! Since everything in the room had to be taken down for testing. The Soaring Pilots developed a very interesting way to show what we were learning in the classroom. First, we divided the students into five groups. Each group representing one of the planners we have completed this year. Second, we used our portfolios and summative assessments to remind us what we learned during each planner. Third, each groups presented the information to the class. Finally, all the work was posted so that the students could use the bulletin boards during student led conferences.

STAAR Power
After creating our awesome STAAR presentations, The Soaring Pilots
decided to create inspirational posters for everyone!

The Soaring Pilots are getting ready for the STAAR test. We decided to work in cooperative groups and create presentations to encourage each other to do our best. We had a game show, a TV interview, a puppet show and songs. We went to see Mrs. Dennis' presenation also. I think we are ready to tackle any problem now!
As some of you may know, we contributed some of our earnings to Charity Water. Charity Water is an organization that helps drill wells for water in other countries. Ms. McGuffee generously matched our donation. When she spoke with Charity Water, they were very impressed with the action The Soaring Pilots were taking! Ms. McGuffee arranged to have our questions answered by skyping with the New York office. Our homework was to create three "thick" questions about what Charity Water is accomplishing. Everyone did a great job writing interesting questions and Charity Water was impressed with our knowledge. Way to go, Soaring Pilots!
