STAAR Performances

The Navigators decided to have a little fun while getting ready for the STAAR test.  As we prepared the room, they decided to help each other prepare with performances!!
The students created their own cooperative groups and decided what they felt was the most important thing that everyone in third grade needed to know about taking a test.
Here we are preparing:  writing scripts or songs, developing questions, and
using our transdisciplinary skills to communicate with our groups.
Next, we created the props we needed and practiced our moves.
Last step - performances!!

Testing Time of the Year

Well, it is getting close to that time of the year... STAAR!
It is time to show how hard we have worked and what we are capable of accomplishing.
First, we created the TESTING 101 CURE.
This was our plan of how we would work through the tests successful.
The students developed a plan that included
using strategies, taking brain breaks, and a list of how to be prepared.
Inside the foldable they drew a picture; visualizing themselves being successful!
Next, the Navigators brought it home to share with their parents their plan of success!!

My Birthday!!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the well wishes on my special day!
I certainly felt like a queen!  The surprises were wonderful and gratefully appreciated.

Our Planner Wall

We have completed our unit of study which included an inquiry into the solar system and our natural laws.  Our planner bulletin board includes some of the work we completed.  There are planet postcards where the Navigators were able to utilize their knowledge of natural laws to explain what you will need when you travel to that planet.  We also studied the natural laws of our planet and an explanation can be found in the 'bag o' chips' designed to include scrumptious facts.  We also included a 3-Dimensional sun with solar flares!
  Great Job,Navigators!

Space Extension Menus

Throughout our planner, How The World Works, students have been exploring topics of their own choice.  We use an extension menu of choices to expand our minds and knowledge.  The Navigators used IIM research practices to read and take notes on the topic that interested them the most.  Next, they decided on a product to present to the class.  Some students chose to do a play, a PowerPoint  or create a display poster or a dictionary.  I loved the way the students worked independently developing their projects!
