Extension Menus

For each planner, I have developed an Extension menu whose purpose is to encourage students to extend and expand their thinking. The menus have a series of questions that are based on the depth and complexity icons used in HISD's gifted and talented curriculum. I then aligned these to our planners key questions. The students choose what they are interested in, form groups if they wish and begin researching and compiling information to answer the questions. The next step is to create a product to showcase the knowledge gained and present it to the class. The group shown above decided to learn more about Saturn and created a TV game show to present the information!
