March 1st - Read Across America (also known as Dr. Seuss Day)
Since we have been studying what it means to be internationally minded, The Navigators decided to make Read Across America Day a cultural experience. Students brought in books written in different languages that represented their cultures. I, of course, brought story books and nursery rhymes written in Dutch. There books written in Spanish, French and many other languages. It was very exciting to share our love of reading in such a unique way. In order to make the event even more appetizing... everyone brought in food from different cultures. We had so many appealing treats! Kate made a traditional Irish bread, there were several different kinds of cookies, and rusk with hagel! It was a very tasty day!
