The recent snowy day in Houston inspired me to create a snowy day in the classroom. We started by reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. This led to a class discussion about clouds and how the snow was created. Next, we took a few basic ingredients: baking soda and creme rinse to create our own snow. The dry and wet ingredients together formed a cold wet clay like mixture! We used the snow to create our own snowballs and snowmen. The best thing is it didn't melt!
