Natural Resources

Today we had a very special visitor:  Hazel's dad!  He brought with him a non-living natural resource called rocks. We learned about the three different types of rocks.  We observed the different properties and found out why a river rock is so smooth.   The most interesting rock happened to be a rock that came from a dinosaurs stomach.  That means the rock was about 100 million years old!

Morning of Music

We had a very special performance today.  Mrs. Patin had chairs set up for us and we got to dress up!  It was a combination of science and classical music.   Interesting combination.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the presentation.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Today the Superheroes explored the definition of these three terms.  It wasn't as easy as we thought.  What does it really mean to reduce and what can we reduce.  Next, we began to explore items to find the recycling symbol which lets us know that the product was made from recycled materials.

Sharing The Planet

We have begun our fifth planner!  We will explore how nature provides resources that enable life.  Today we worked on matching products with the resource that it came from.  Next, we challenged ourselves to think of other products that may have come from that resource.  This led to a discussion about what our clothes are made from.  Which led to an interesting question - What is polyester??

Morning Announcements

The Superheroes had an exciting week!  We were in charge of the morning announcements!  In small groups, the students planned their roles and then decided on the quote of the day.  They used quotes from Dr. Seuss, Michael Jackson and Henry David Thoreau!
