Reading to a packed audience

The Discoverers read their original works of poetry to a packed audience Wednesday the 19th. The event was a culmination of a year long writing project directed by Ms. Musters. Some of the titles include: The Night Sky, This is Me and Looking Through My Grandparent's Window. The Discoverers also performed a group poem written about who they are and what they do. The message of the poem was that we had all become a community and a family. By the end of the reading, it felt like the whole audience had become a family with everyone applauding for each of the readers. The Discoverers were congratulated on their work not only by relatives, but by strangers who were moved by the power of their words.

School Writing Project Reading at Rice University

The Grand Hall at Rice University was transformed into the School Writing Project's Annual Spring Reading. The artwork and writing by the students changed the room into a student friendly oasis. The Discoverers arrived to find their memory boards adorning the walls and their quotes about writing displayed for all to read. There were over 200 people in attendance to hear the amazing writing created by these young, talented students. The audience was wowed with their talent and the quality of the writing. I do not think I am exaggerating when I say there were moments when the audience cried, laughed and applauded as one. The community created by the parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers and supporters was nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you everyone for being a part of this special moment in the lives of the Discoverers.
